SHELBY -Motorists driving along the Interstate 40/77 interchange in Statesville won't experience lane closures as they travel to their holiday destinations.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 20 at 6 a.m., the N.C. Department of Transportation will suspend lane closures for the I-40/77 interchange improvement project. This includes lane closures at U.S. 21, U.S. 64 and Glenway Drive.
The lane closure suspension remains in effect until Thursday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m.
The NCDOT reminds all motorists to drive cautiously in work zones. The speed limit through the work zone along I-40/77 is 55 miles per hour. The N.C. State Highway Patrol will continue to monitor this corridor for speeding violations.
