RALEIGH - The N.C. Department
of Transportation crews will have overnight closures in place on N.C. 18
(S. Sterling Street) in Morganton from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25,
through Thursday, Feb. 29, weather permitting.
The closures are necessary for crews to set bridge beams
over N.C. 18. The work is part of a $21.2 million project to construct new
bridges on Interstate 40 over N.C. 18 and widen N.C. 18. Project contractor is
Dane Construction Co. of Mooresville.
During the closures, northbound N.C. 18 traffic should
detour onto Drexel Road to East Parker Road to N.C. 18. Southbound N.C. 18
traffic should take I-40 West to Exit 104 (Enola Road) back to I-40 East to
Exit 105 (N.C. 18).
NCDOT encourages motorists traveling around the work zone to
go slow, pay attention to construction-related signs and allow extra time to
reach your destinations.
