Pine Grove Church Road Closure Starts Monday as Bridge Replacement Project Gets Underway

RALEIGH - A section of Pine Grove Church Road located southwest of Robbins in Moore County will close for about six months, starting Monday, March 4, as a contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation begins replacing the bridge over Cabin Creek.

The 59-year-old bridge being replaced is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. That means it is safe, but has been in deteriorating condition and was built to bridge design standards, such as lane width, that are no longer used.

The new bridge should be open for traffic by Aug. 1.

The closure means a signed detour will be in place. Drivers on nearby N.C. 24/27 will be directed to continue east past its intersection with Pine Grove Church Road, then turn left onto Talc Mine Road. A left turn on Spies Road will take vehicles back to Pine Grove Church Road.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.
