RALEIGH -A 48-inch pipe
that crosses under N.C. 113 west of Sparta in Alleghany County has been
washed out because of heavy water volume brought on by several days of
rain in the area. NCDOT crews will be starting repairs as soon as
possible but the road is expected to remain closed at least through
early next week.
A signed detour in place has motorists using N.C. 221 and N.C. 93 to get around the closed section of N.C. 113.For
