CHARLOTTE -Motorists who travel on Old Dowd Road in West Charlotte should prepare for delays beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, August 12, when crews will temporarily close the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing west of I-485, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for maintenance work at the railroad crossing, which is expected to be completed by Aug. 26. A signed detour will take motorists around the area from Old Dowd Road to Sam Wilson Road to Wilkinson Boulevard (U.S. 74) back to Old Dowd Road.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
