- Due to expected rain in the area this weekend, a N.C. Department of
Transportation utility line project that was expected to close a section of
Murray Hill Road near U.S. 1 in Aberdeen each of the next two weekends, has
been delayed one week. The revised schedule calls for the closures to be in
effect from 10 p.m. on Friday, March 1 through 6 a.m. on Monday, March 4, and
again during the same time from Friday, March 8 until Monday, March 11.
The closures mean drivers will need to use a signed detour, going on
Richards Street, Pinehurst Avenue and U.S. 1 to get around the work site.
Crews are installing an eight-inch water line and 30-inch storm lines,
and constructing a retaining wall.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information,
stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also
available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel.
