Ramp Realignment Requires Temporary Lane Closures on U.S. 421/Business 40 Ramp to U.S. 158/Stratford Road in Winston-Salem

RALEIGH - Over the next two weeks, motorists in Winston-Salem will encounter intermittent lane closures on the ramp from U.S. 421 South/Business 40 East to U.S. 158/Stratford Road as work continues on Piedmont Federal National Bank's project to improve the intersection. The bank's site developer will soon install a new traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 421/Business 40 and U.S. 158/Stratford Road to improve the flow of traffic and provide better access to businesses located behind the bank's recently constructed corporate office building. To accommodate the traffic signal, the ramp from U.S. 421 South/Business 40 East to U.S. 158/Stratford Road must be shifted to line up with the driveway located across U.S. 158/Stratford Road. This work will require temporary intermittent lane closures on the ramp, which began this morning and are expected to continue through on Friday, Nov. 1. The N.C. Department of Transportation encourages motorists on U.S. 421 South/Business 40 East to use Knollwood Street as an alternate route to access U.S. 158/Stratford Road. NCDOT reminds motorists to use caution in the work area, expect delays and allow additional time to reach their destination. For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel or follow NCDOT on Twitter at www.ncdot.gov/travel/twitter.
