Resurfacing Work on U.S. 15/501 in Southern Pines/Aberdeen Starts Next Monday

RALEIGH - Motorists traveling in the Southern Pines and Aberdeen area on U.S. 15/501 will soon have a smoother ride. A paving project to improve 1.8 miles between Morganton Road and Johnson Street is scheduled to start next Monday evening.

Because the highway is a busy commuter and commercial route, all work will take place at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. The project should take about a week to complete, weather permitting.

Drivers in the work zone should be ready for some delays and possible lane and intersection closures. Flagmen will be handling traffic control to get vehicles safely through the area.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.

Any questions regarding the project may be referred to Assistant Resident Engineer Ron Van Cleef at (919) 776-9623.
