RALEIGH - The N.C.
Department of Transportation has promoted Rob Stone to division engineer for its Division
8, which covers Chatham, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Richmond and
Scotland counties. He replaces Richard Hancock, who is now the manager of the
NCDOT Project Development and
Environmental Analysis Unit.
"Rob brings a well-rounded background and
considerable experience within the DOT to his new post," said Chief Operating
Officer Jim Trogdon."He will help us partner with local communities as we
continue to move forward with our transportation goals."
Stone, a native of Spring Lake, has worked for
the Department for nearly 20 years. He is being promoted from the post of
division operations engineer, and had also served Division 8 as its traffic
engineer and assistant area traffic engineer. His background with the DOT also
includes stints as the state incident management engineer, an access review engineer
with the Traffic Engineering Branch, an assistant division engineer in Division
6, and as the assistant area traffic engineer for Divisions 3 and 6.
Stone graduated from N.C. State with a Bachelor
of Science in Civil Engineering, and is a registered professional engineer. His
