Inner Loop traffic will be slowed with rolling road blocks while sign is removed from damaged structure
CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation is closing a section of the I-485 Inner Loop west of mile marker 65 (South Boulevard) at 1 a.m. Thursday, May 2, to remove an overhead sign from a support structure that was damaged by a tractor trailer earlier today.
The sign is located just west of the entrance ramp from South Boulevard to the Inner Loop. In order to safely remove the sign, crews will perform rolling blocks intermittently with assistance from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Incident Management Patrol units.
Motorists traveling on the Inner Loop are advised to exit at N.C. 51 (Exit 64A-B) to South Boulevard to Westinghouse Boulevard to reach I-77.
The sign should be removed by 5 a.m., and traffic control should be removed by 6 a.m.
