Flooding washed out southbound lane north of Abington Road
RALEIGH -The N.C. Department of Transportation has closed a
section of N.C. 90 in Collettsville, north of Lenoir, to repair a slope next to
the highway damaged due to recent storms. The repairs began at 8 a.m. today, and
will be completed by 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, weather permitting.
Flooding
and runoff from heavy rains loosened the soil next to the road between Adako
Road and Old Johns River Road. Crews will haul in large rocks to rebuild the embankment
and repair the southbound lane of N.C. 90.
While the closure is
in place, motorists will take the following detour route:
- Globe Mountain Road to Mulberry Creek Road back
to N.C. 90.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction
information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
