RALEIGH - State Transportation Secretary Tony Tata has named Susan Pullium the department's Director of Strategic Planning. Pulliam will work closely with Chief Deputy Secretary for Support Nick Tennyson to deliver a 25-year transportation infrastructure plan, one of Governor Pat McCrory's top priorities. "Susan has overseen large-scale planning and community engagement efforts and understands the importance of collaboration," said Tata. "She is a talented, innovative individual who will be a tremendous asset as we work with our business and community partners to develop a long-range transportation plan that boosts North Carolina's economy."Pullium will oversee the Transportation Planning Branch and Performance Metrics Management Office.Most recently, Pullium served in the Wake County School System, where she was responsible for growth and planning. She was director for student assignment and served on the Student Assignment Task Force. She is also a former biology teacher and department chair in North Carolina and Arizona.Pullium has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and is working on a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University. She starts April 22 and will earn a salary of $88,084.
