Triple Bridge Replacement Project Starts Monday in Granville County

RALEIGH - Work gets under way on Monday, May 13, on an N.C. Department of Transportation project to replace three bridges just 2/10ths of a mile apart over Beaver Dam Creek on Brassfield Road, southeast of Creedmoor in Granville County. Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh was awarded the $1.1million contract as the low bidder.

The initial bridge of the group was built in 1950, while the other two were constructed in 1964. They are each concrete-surfaced structures on timber pilings. The original bridge is just 36-feet long, while the other two are each half that length.

The new bridges should be open to traffic by Nov. 8.

The work means there will be a signed detour in place, using Pope Road, Horseshoe Road and Lawrence Road to get around the closures.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
