Beautification Efforts Begin in Advance of the U.S. Open in Moore County

Spring Litter Sweep scheduled for April 26 - May 10

RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation is preparing for the U.S. Open Golf Championships being held in Moore County in June.

Beautification efforts by NCDOT have included plantings along the major routes entering Moore County, annual flower plantings at gateway locations and litter pickup. Additional emphasis for litter pickup will be placed on state routes being used for traffic going to the U.S. Open.

NCDOT appreciates all efforts to keep the roadsides clean and would like to remind everyone of the Spring 2014 Litter Sweep scheduled for April 26 through May 10. There are many sections of highway available in Moore County for adoption, including sections along the bus and commuter routes used for the U.S. Open.

Applications for Adopt-A-Highway can be initiated by visiting the following website: https://www.ncdot.gov/programs/AAH/. Questions regarding an application for adopting a roadway and the sections available in Moore County can be directed to Joanna Peele at jpeele@ncdot.gov or 910-944-7621.
