Brushy Mountain Bridge in Wilkes County Opening to Traffic This Week After Slight Delay in Rehabilitation Project

SHELBY-- The Brushy Mountain bridge over U.S. 421 in Wilkes County will open to traffic on Friday, Dec. 19, after being closed since October for rehabilitation. The bridge was originally scheduled to open Monday, but crews need a few more days to get the bridge ready for traffic.

The Brushy Mountain bridge was built in 1966.This rehabilitation project is part of a $3.1 million contract to improve six Wilkes County bridges.
