Farmville Road to Close in Cleveland County During NCDOT Bridge Replacement Project

SHELBY-TheN.C. Department of Transportationis replacing a bridge over Brushy Creek on Farmville Road in Cleveland County, and construction crews will close a potion of Farmville Road beginning Monday, Aug. 4, while the new bridge is built.

A signed detour will be in place directing motorists from Chatfield Road to West Zion Church Road, then from West Cabaniss Road back to Farmville Road.

The road will be closed through December.

The existing bridge on Farmville Road was built in 1960 and is considered functionally obsolete and structurally deficient. The bridge remains safe for traffic, but it requires costly maintenance to remain functional and needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

TCB Builders is the contractor for the $616,312 project.
