Wet weather last week delayed closuresRALEIGH -Work on the Fayetteville Outer Loop project continues tonight after being suspended last week due to wet weather.
Tonight, May 19 at 8 p.m., crews will resume the closure of U.S. 401 (Ramsey Street) at the I-295 interchange. The closure is needed to allow the contractor to safely remove traffic protection devices used in constructing the new bridge that will carry traffic over U.S. 401. The closure will be in place until 5 a.m., Tuesday, May 20. Tonight is the last night of closures for this work.A signed detour will be in place, sending northbound U.S. 401 traffic onto I-295 East to River Road, where motorists can get on I-295 West to get back to U.S. 410 North. Southbound motorists will turn right on Andrews Road, then left on McArthur Road to return to U.S. 401. This is the same closure that was in place during a weekend closure in February. The work is part of a $55.2 million contract awarded Barnhill Contracting Co. of Tarboro to build a 5.2-mile section of the Fayetteville Loop between N.C. 87/210 and U.S. 401. The project is considered about 95 percent complete, and set to be finished in June.
