Fayetteville Outer Loop Project Requires Nightly Closure on Section of U.S. 401 this Week for Bridge Work

Work to take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights
RALEIGH -Work on the Fayetteville Outer Loop project will require the nightly closure of U.S. 401 (Ramsey Street) at the I-295 interchange Wednesday, May 14 through Friday, May 16. The closure is needed to allow the contractor to safely remove traffic protection devices used in constructing the new bridge that will carry traffic over U.S. 401.

Weather permitting, the closure will be in place from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.

A signed detour will be in place, sending northbound U.S. 401 traffic onto I-295 East to River Road, where motorists can get on I-295 West to get back to U.S. 410 North. Southbound motorists will turn right on Andrews Road, then left on McArthur Road to return to U.S. 401. This is the same closure that was in place during a weekend closure in February. The work is part of a $55.2 million contract awarded Barnhill Contracting Co. of Tarboro to build a 5.2-mile section of the Fayetteville Loop between N.C. 87/210 and U.S. 401. The project is considered about 95 percent complete, and set to be finished this spring.
