RALEIGH -Work on the
Fayetteville Outer Loop project will require the closure of U.S. 401 (Ramsey
Street) at the I-295 interchange the weekend of Jan. 17-20. The closure is
needed to allow the contractor to safely install girders for the Loop bridge
that will carry traffic over U.S. 401.
Weather permitting, the closure will be in place from 8 p.m., Friday,
Jan. 17 through 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, with the possibility the road could
re-open earlier if the work is completed.
A signed detour will be in place, sending northbound U.S. 401 traffic
onto I-295 East to River Road, where motorists can get on I-295 West to get
back to U.S. 410 North.
Southbound motorists will turn right on Andrews Road, then left on
McArthur Road to return to U.S. 401.
The work is part of a $55.2 million contract awarded Barnhill
Contracting Co. of Tarboro to build a 5.2-mile section of the Fayetteville Loop
between N.C. 87/210 and U.S. 401. The project is considered about 80 percent
complete, and set to be finished this spring.
