--Beginning
Monday, May 19, at 7 a.m., a portion of Stepp Mill Road in Henderson County
will be closed while crews work on a project updating the bridge over Saconon
Creek.
As part of the project, the
existing bridge, built in 1958 and located east of Hendersonville, will be
retrofitted for pedestrian use. The$1,024,949 contract also
includesgrading, drainage, paving and adding a retaining wall.
A detour will be in place during
construction directing motorists to take Ridge Road to Oleta Road and then back
to Stepp Mill Road. The detour is expected to remain in place until June 2015.
DeVere Construction Company,
Inc. of Raleigh is the project contractor.
