DMV reviewing applications for new area agency
RALEIGH - After 20 years, David Sharpton is retiring and closing out his contract with the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles for the Hendersonville Road License Plate Agency in Asheville. The agency will close at the end of business Friday, June 27.
The Division is reviewing applications to determine the operator and location of a new area LPA. Routinely, it takes about four months to establish a new agency. Sharpton has held the contract for the agency since May 1994.

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, about 120 license plate agencies operate across North Carolina.
