RALEIGH -On Wednesday, Oct. 8, schools across North Carolina will participate in the annual Walk to School Day as part of an international movement to raise awareness of the needs of pedestrians while promoting healthy choices. The event is promoted by the N.C. Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to School program, funded by the Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation.
If your school hasn't participated in Walk to School Day before, there's still time to register for this year's events. NCDOT's Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation has pulled together a step-by-step guide you can use to organize an event in as few as seven days!
If you act now, you still have plenty of time to get your school involved in the 2014 Walk to School Day.
