yesterday closed the on-ramp from N.C. 4/48 in Gold Rock to I-95 South
north of Rocky Mount where a vehicle traveling on I-95 struck the flyover ramp.A metal girder on the flyover ramp was damaged. The on-ramp to I-95 south is expected to be closed for at least four weeks while the department evaluates the damage and makes necessary repairs. Occasional lane closures on I-95 South will be necessary as this work takes place.Drivers wanting to access I-95 South from N.C. 4/48 will now take the on-ramp to I-95 North, follow I-95 North to the exit for N.C. 33, turn left at the end of the exit ramp, cross I-95 and then turn left to merge on to I-95 South. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
