RALEIGH - The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles will increase mobile unit availabilities to Beaufort and Dare counties, effective September 1.
NCDMV mobile units will offer its services to Belhaven on the second Friday of each month from 9 a.m. -4 p.m. This marks the first mobile unit availability to residents of Beaufort County since 2008. The unit will be located at 215 East Main Street.
The Division will also expand its current schedule of accessibility in Hatteras from one day per month to two consecutive days. The unit, located at57689 NC Highway 12, will offer services on the third Wednesday and Thursday of each month. Hours of operation for this unit's location are from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. -4 p.m. on Thursday.
Other changes to mobile unit destinations include the discontinuation of stops to Red Springs along with the reduction of visits to various sites. Mobile unit visits to the Robbinsville, Hayesville and Trenton locations have each decreased by one day per month. Robbinsville will be open on the first and third Tuesday, while Hayesville will continue to operate on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Trenton's location will be open on the third Wednesday of each month.
NCDMV mobile units offer driver license services to rural areas across the state. The units administer sign tests, written tests and road tests to qualify applicants for a North Carolina driver license. They also issue North Carolina identification cards.
