WINSTON-SALEM - The
N.C. Department of Transportation will close Upper Lake Road between the Martin Marietta Quarry entrance and the Hanes Paving entrance south of Thomasville between 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, and 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to tie in a new bridge alignment to the existing roadway. This work is part of the
Piedmont Improvement Program, which involves constructing a new highway bridge carrying Upper Lake Road over the North Carolina Railroad tracks in Davidson County.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
