Nighttime paving ongoing between U.S. 74/76 and Virgil Street
RALEIGH -The N.C. Department of Transportation is continuing a resurfacing project on U.S. 701/J.K. Powell Boulevard in Whiteville.
Crews are currently focusing on milling and resurfacing a section of U.S. 701 from the U.S. 74/76 interchange to Virgil Street. The nightly closures are in place from 4 p.m. until 6 a.m. weekdays through the end of July.
This work is part of a $5.1 million contract awarded to Highland Paving Company of Fayetteville in July 2013. Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to be complete October 15, 2014.
