Department of Transportation is monitoring the possibility of adverse
weather conditions in the North Carolina foothills and is prepared to treat
roads for snow or ice, as needed.

as rain, sothere are currently no plans to pre-treat the roads with

Weather Service, however, is forecasting bitterly cold temperatures for the
region starting Wednesday, so motorists are encouraged to slow down and be on
the lookout for possible icy patches. NCDOT crews will use salt and sand to
treat any spots on the road that might cause adverse driving conditions.
