operations are ongoing in Asheville and the surrounding counties, and N.C. Department of Transportation crews are
prepared to continue those efforts as more winter weather moves into the
Snow and ice removal are
ongoing in every county in NCDOT's Division 13, which includes Buncombe,
Burke, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Rutherford and Yancey counties. Crews are
monitoring weather conditions in the region and have the supplies and
equipment needed to continue their de-icing operations as necessary.
With heavy snow in the
forecast for parts of eastern North Carolina, Division 13 is sending some
crews to that region today to assist with snow and ice removal.
Travelers are asked NOT to
call 911 or the State Highway Patrol for road conditions. The lines must
remain clear for emergency calls.
