CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting on Thursday, April 10 to discuss proposed improvements to West Catawba Avenue from Sam Furr Road (N.C. 73) to Jetton Road in Mecklenburg County.
The proposed project is an extension of improvements made on Catawba Avenue between I-77 and Jetton Road in 2009. The purpose of the project is to improve mobility and safety for motorists, public transit users, pedestrians and bicyclists, as current traffic volumes exceed vehicle capacity in the project area. Forecasted volumes for 2035 and additional development will create longer travel times.
The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Avenue in Cornelius. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the meeting hours to speak with NCDOT representatives, ask questions and submit comments in writing. There will not be a formal presentation.
