Raleigh - As part of continued efforts to increase operational
efficiency and better serve customers, NCDOT has named Clayton Somers as the
new Executive Director of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority.
Somers has a strong and diverse leadership background in
business and law. His proven experience
in administrative operations including policy, human resources, and legal, will
help drive the strategic and innovative funding options of NCTA to help address
increasing congestion issues and funding challenges.
Somers currently serves as General Counsel for the North
Carolina High School Athletic Association and oversees all operational
functions including legal, human resources, insurance, real estate, and compliance
with governmental regulations. Previously, he was Executive Vice President,
Vice President of Human Resources, and General Counsel for Wasserman Media
Group. He is a member of the bar associations of North Carolina, California,
and New York.
In December, NCDOT named a new Director of Operations and
New Director of Customer Service for the Turnpike Authority. As Executive
Director, Somers completes the leadership team that will strengthen NCTA's
overall efforts.
Somers begins his new role on March 10.
