CHARLOTTE -The
N.C. Department of Transportation and the
City of Monroe will hold an informational workshop Thursday, Oct. 16, for proposed
improvements to several intersections along U.S. 74 between Fowler Secrest Road
and N.C. 200 (Morgan Mill Road).
The project would remove or modify all full turn
movement, non-signalized intersections along that section of U.S. 74. The
intersections to be improved are at Timber Lane, the Takura/Little Caesers
shopping center, the Aldi/Cookout shopping center, the Bundy Square shopping center
and the Relax Inn/Jameson Inn driveway entrances. These improvements are intended to make travel
along this part of U.S. 74 safer by reducing crashes at these intersections.
The meeting will be held in the City Council chambers at
the Monroe City Hall at 300 West Crowell Street. Interested citizens can drop
by any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to speak with NCDOT and City representatives
about the proposed improvements.
For more information about the project, please contact
NCDOT Division Traffic Engineer Sean Epperson at (704) 983-4400 or City of
Monroe Engineering Director Jim Loyd at (704)282-4529.
