CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation tonight will shift traffic on the I-485 Inner Loop between Rea Road and Johnston Road from midnight to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, weather permitting. The work is part of the $83.3 million I-485 widening project to add one lane in each direction between I-77 and Rea Road.
Tonight's work allows crews to shift traffic to new inside lanes on the Inner Loop to continue paving operations. Intermittent lane closures will get underway at 9 p.m. to prepare for the traffic shift at midnight. In addition, entrance ramps and loop ramps from Johnston Road and Rea Road to the Inner Loop will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. while crews complete striping work.
