NCDOT Will Temporarily Close Independence Hill Road in Mecklenburg County

Detour will be posted for motorists

CHARLOTTE -As work continues on the final 5.7-mile segment of the Charlotte Outer Loop, crews with Blythe Construction will temporarily close a section of Independence Hill Road in northeast Charlotte at 9 a.m. Monday, June 16, weather permitting.

During the closure, the contractor will complete grading work in the area. Additional improvements will be built at the intersection of Independence Hill Road and Alexanderana Road, including a left turn lane and traffic signal heads and loops.

A detour will be posted for motorists along N.C. 115 (Old Statesville Road) and Alexanderana Road. The road is expected to reopen August 1.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
