Closures are part of I-85/I-485 turbine interchange project
CHARLOTTE -The N.C. Department of Transportation is continuing work on the I-85/I-485 interchange conversion in northeast Charlotte as crews prepare to relocate barrier walls and install sign structures associated with the state's first turbine interchange.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, March 10, the department is scheduling nightly lane closures on I-85 North and South:
- March 10: Right lane on I-85 North at I-485 (Exit 48) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, to install sign structures and reset barrier walls;
- March 11: Right three lanes on I-85 South between I-485 (Exit 48) and Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, to install sign structures;
- March 12: Left lane on I-85 North at I-485 (Exit 48) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, March 13, to remove median barrier walls;
- March 13-14: Traffic will be shifted on I-85 North between Mallard Creek Church Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday and Friday nights.
