RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 14, regarding proposed improvements to the intersection of N.C. 39 and N.C. 42 in northeastern Johnston County.
The workshop will take place from 4:30 until 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Antioch Baptist Church, located on N.C. 39, 1.6 miles north of N.C. 42.
The department is currently studying multiple concepts for improving safety at this intersection. The following concepts will be presented at the workshop:
Replacing the intersection with a roundabout
Realigning N.C. 39 to improve sight distance
Splitting the intersection in to two separate three-way stops
Converting the intersection to an all-way stop
No formal presentation will be made. Attendees can stop by at any time during the workshop hours to talk with NCDOT staff about the intersection and learn about concepts for improvements.
