NCDOT to Perform Bridge Work on I-40 in Davie County

Raleigh--The N.C. Department of Transportation is currently performing a maintenance project on the east and westbound bridges on Interstate 40 over the Yadkin River between mile markers 180 and 182. The project involves working on the deck joints for each bridge. Due to the weather dependent nature of the materials used in this project, work can only take place when air temperatures are above 45 degrees and there is no precipitation. While underway, the project will require one lane of I-40 in each direction to be closed at this location. The closures will take place, weather permitting, at the following times through Dec. 19th. Monday - Thursday between 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m- 6 a.m.; Friday and Saturday nights between 11 p.m. -7 a.m. and Sunday 11 p.m. -6- a.m. There will be no lane closures on Fridays and no daytime weekend lane closures. In addition to this project, over the next several days bridge inspectors will be performing the biennial bridge inspection for these structures required by the federal highway administration. This work should be done by the end of the week.Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
