Road to close Friday
as crews begin construction
GREENSBORO Work starts Friday, Aug 1 at 8 a.m., on
an N.C. Department of Transportation
project to replace the bridge on Wentworth Street over Freeway Drive in
Reidsville, weather permitting.
The work is expected to be complete by July 28, 2015.
During the closure, motorists will use Wentworth Street,
George Street, Freeway Drive and Moss Street as the signed detour route. NCDOT encourages motorists
to pay attention, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach
their destinations safely.
This is part of the Freeway Drive widening project. Built in
1956 the existing bridge is reaching the end of its life cycle and needs to be
replaced to meet current and future traffic demands. The new bridge will accommodate all traffic,
including trucks and emergency vehicles, as it will not be subject to the load
restrictions of the current bridge.
