GREENSBORO- Weather permitting, work will begin next week on anN.C. Department of Transportationproject to resurface a section Wendover Avenue from West Market Street to Clifton Road in Guilford County.
The contractor, APAC-Atlantic of Greensboro, will begin milling and paving work the week of July 13, weather permitting. This work is scheduled between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. Nearly 50,000 vehicles travel this portion of Wendover Avenue during peak travel hours; nighttime construction is the best alternative for preventing delays and accidents during a major project like this one. The project is scheduled to be completed by Thursday, Oct. 2; and may be completed earlier.
"The condition of the pavement has been evaluated and portions of the roadway is deteriorating." Division Staff Engineer Stanley Buff said, "This will give us an opportunity to renew one of the most highly traveled portions of Wendover Avenue and ultimately restore the smooth commute for drivers along this roadway."
Because safety is our number one priority, backup alarms will be utilized on all equipment. Artificial lighting and warning strobe lights will also be used. We understand that there may be inconveniences during construction due to more noise and lighting than normal. However, our contractor is dedicated to working diligently and continuously to complete this project as soon as possible.
