NCDOT to Temporarily Close Lanes of U.S. 74 near I-40 in Haywood County

Shelby -The N.C. Department of Transportation is repairing bridge joints today on U.S. 74 near the Interstate 40 junction in Haywood County and will temporarily close lanes of U.S. 74 westbound while the repairs are completed.

NCDOT crews will first close the right lane of U.S. 74 westbound to repair the bridge joints on that side of the highway. Once work is completed on the right westbound lane, crews will move to the left westbound lane. Traffic on U.S. 74 eastbound should not be affected by the repairs.

Crews are expected to finish the repairs by this evening.

Motorists traveling along U.S 74 westbound in Haywood county today areadvised to use caution when traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
