NCDOT to Temporarily Close Portion of Howard Gap Road in Henderson County Next Week

SHELBY-As work progresses on the Howard Gap Road widening project in HendersonCounty, theN.C. Department of Transportationwill temporarily close a portion of Howard Gap Road for road construction.

Beginning Monday, July 14, at 6 a.m., Howard Gap Road will be closed from Zeb Corn Road to Salisbury Road between Hendersonville and Fletcher. That portion of the road is expected to re-open Saturday, July 19, at 8 p.m.

During the closure, the signed detour route will follow Nix Road to Clear Creek Road and back to Howard Gap Road.

The work is part of a $7.8 million project to replace two bridges and widen Howard Gap Road between U.S. 64 and Brookside Camp Road in Henderson County. Project contractor is NHM Constructors of Asheville.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
