CHARLOTTE -Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Sapp Road north of Concord at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17. The one-month closure will enable crews to replace three pipes under the roadway and widen the road an additional two feet on each side.
NCDOT will post a detour for motorists from Sapp Road to Irish Potato Road to Old Concord-Salisbury Road to Old Beatty Ford Road to Phaniels Church Road back to Sapp Road. Part of the detour will take motorists into Rowan County to accommodate larger trucks.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Know before you go by calling 511, the department's free travel information line, or get real-time travel information online. NCDOT also offers travel information for motorists and ferry passengers on Twitter. For more information on how to get travel information, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel.
