RALEIGH - Weather permitting, the
N.C. Department of Transportation will close National Boulevard near U.S. 64 in Lexington next week to install drainage pipe under the roadway. National Boulevard will close at 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 and remain closed for the duration of the work, which is expected to be completed by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9. To detour around the work zone, motorists traveling northbound on National Boulevard will take Business 85 North to West Center Street to Burler Street and back to National Boulevard.
From southbound National Boulevard, motorists will take West Center Street Extension, then merge onto Business 85 via the service road. From there, take Old U.S. 64 and return to National Boulevard. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
