SHELBY--On Tuesday, March 11, theN.C. Department of Transportationwill temporarily close one lane of Interstate 40 eastbound in Iredell County from mile markers 139-141 near Statesville. The closure is necessary to repair a bridge expansion joint that was damaged last month during snow and ice removal operations.
NCDOT crews will close the left eastbound lane at 9 a.m. to begin repairs on the bridge, which spans the Catawba River. The work is expected to be completed in two days.
Motorists traveling through the area are advised to slow down and expect delays.
