will close a portion of Howard Gap Road between north of Patty's Chapel Road and Sweet Water Oats Road in Fletcher, Henderson County next month. The closure is needed to install new drainage and re-grade a section of Howard Gap Road.The work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 7, and is expected to last until late July. A detour route will be in place, sending motorists onto Patty's Chapel Road and Jackson Road to avoid the construction area. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution while traveling in the area. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. The work is a part of the $9.3 million contract with Tennoca Construction Co. to widen Howard Gap Road from Jackson Road to just south of Brookside Road.For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit the NCDOT traffic website or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
