Routine Track Maintenance to Temporarily Close Railroad Crossings in Rockingham County Next Week

RALEIGH -Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two railroad crossings in Rockingham County on Tuesday, March 4 to allow Norfolk Southern Railroad to conduct routine track maintenance operations.Crews will close Wray Road near U.S. 220 from 9 a.m. until noon. During the closure, motorists will use Old U.S. 220, Fulp Sawmill Road, Price Road and Memorial Baptist Church Road to detour around the closure. A map of the detour route can be seen here.In addition, the railroad crossing on Fulp Sawmill Road will closed from noon until 4 p.m. Motorists will use Old U.S. 220, U.S. 220 and Price Road as the signed detour route.NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Up-to-date railroad crossing closure information is available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information via Twitter at www.ncdot.gov/travel/twitter. Another option is NCDOT Mobile, a phone-friendly version of the NCDOT website. To access it, type "m.ncdot.gov" into the browser of your smartphone. Then, bookmark it to save for future reference. NCDOT Mobile is compatible with the iPhone, Android and some newer Blackberry phones.
