Shelby -- A portion of Long Branch Road in
Rutherford County will close temporarily beginning Monday, March 31, while
crews reconstruct the intersection of Long Branch Road and U.S. 221.
Crews will close Long
Branch Road for about 30 days while the intersectionimprovements are
completed. The improvements are necessary so that Long Branch Road can be
reconstructed to match the new grade and alignment of U.S. 221.
This project is part of a
$30.4 million contract to widen six miles of U.S. 221 from south of Floyd's
Creek to north of the U.S. 74 Bypass into a four-lane, divided highway.
During construction around
Long Branch Road, a detour will be in place to help motorists navigate the
closure. The detour will direct traffic to Shiloh Road, onto Big Island Rd,
then to Poors Ford Road, and then back to Long Branch Road.
