Section of I-795 North in Wilson to Close Wednesday for Road Work

RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of I-795 North, just south of Wilson at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The closure is necessary for crews to make repairs to the road surface leading up to the bridge over the railroad tracks just south of the interchange with U.S. 301.
Crews will close the northbound lanes near mile marker six at 8 a.m. and will begin work on smoothing out a bump in both lanes of the road just before the bridge. Due to the limited availability of asphalt at this time of year, both lanes are being closed down at the same time to allow work to be done as quickly as possible. The road will open by 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Northbound traffic on I-795 will take Exit Five for U.S. 301. At the end of the ramp, traffic will turn right onto U.S. 301 North, continue for 0.7 mile, turn left onto U.S. 264 West and follow that back to I-795 North. A map can be found here.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
