RALEIGH -The N.C. Department of Transportation will close both directions of U.S. 1 at Morganton Road north of Aberdeen to traffic beginning at 10 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, weather permitting.
The closure will be in place until 6 a.m., Thursday, March 27. The same closure will take place Thursday evening, with the road reopening at 6 a.m., Friday, March 28. The closures are necessary for crews to install the girder supports for the new bridge on Morganton Road.
During the closure, motorists traveling in both directions of U.S. 1 are asked to take the exit ramp to Morganton Road, cross over and then return to U.S. 1.
