A section of Wilco Boulevard in Wilson will be closed starting 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, and reopening Thursday, Dec. 11, for work on the CSX crossing
east of U.S. 301. The closure is necessary for crews with CSX Railroad to make repairs to the crossing on Wilco Boulevard, located between Contentnea Road and Miller Road. Once repairs are complete, N.C. Department of Transportation crews will repave the road at the crossing.NCDOT will have a detour in place during this project for through traffic. Traffic coming from the west will turn left on Miller Road, right on U.S. 301 North and right on Baldree Road back to Wilco Boulevard. Traffic coming from the east will turn right on Baldree Road, left on U.S. 301 South and left on Miller Road back to Wilco Boulevard. A map of the project location and detour route for through traffic can be found here.Local traffic will still have access to businesses along this stretch of Wilco Boulevard; however, they will not be able to cross the railroad tracks. Message boards will be in place alerting drivers to the closure. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays.
