Greensboro - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will start work on Monday July 27, to replace the Quakenbush Road bridge that runs over Reedy Branch creek near Snow Camp.
If weather permits, the work will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to be completed by Sunday, Oct. 25.
The 57-year-old existing bridge is listed as structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The existing bridge has reached the end of its life cycle and needs to be replaced by a structure built to modern standards to meet current and future traffic demands.
While work is underway, motorists will use Holman Mill Road as the 2.3-mile signed detour route.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
